HTNYS’ Board Discusses Key Issues in Canandaigua, Tours Thompson Health

The Board of Governor’s of Healthcare Trustees of New York State (HTNYS) held its June meeting in Canandaigua, the hometown of its Chairman, Richard H. Hawks, Jr., Treasurer of the Board, Thompson Health.

In addition to discussing President Obama’s health policy reform initiatives, the HTNYS Board discussed a variety of challenges their hospitals are encountering, such as physician shortages, financial issues related to hospital pensions, rising bad debt, swine flu, and significant challenges related to state budget cuts.

The HTNYS Board also met with Linda Janczak, President and Chief Executive Officer of Thompson Health, and toured Thompson Health. Contact: Sue Ellen Wagner
