Saratoga Hospital Volunteer Guild Receives HANYS’ Auxiliary of the Year Award
Sheila O’Connell accepts the Auxiliary of the Year Award on behalf of the Saratoga Hospital Volunteer Guild.
HANYS presented its Auxiliary of the Year Award to the Saratoga Hospital Volunteer Guild at this week’s Annual Institute for Health Care Auxiliaries in Queensbury, New York. The Guild was chosen by an expert panel from among 31 nominations. It was recognized for its numerous community outreach activities, which include programs focused on oncology patients and their families, and a summer volunteer program for students. The Guild also conducts numerous fundraisers for the hospital and manages the hospital’s gift and thrift shops. Sheila O’Connell, the Guild’s First Vice President, accepted the award on behalf of the Guild.
In addition, there were two honorable mentions: Huntington Hospital Auxiliary and Long Island Jewish Medical Center Service Guild. HANYS will distribute a publication in the coming months containing profiles of all 31 auxiliaries that were nominated for the award. The call for nominations for the 2009 Auxiliary of the Year Award will be sent to auxiliaries in spring 2009. Contact: Jennifer Carter
