Trustees Converge in Albany to Oppose Health Care Cuts and Taxes

Bookmark and Share

A group of hospital and health care board members, including members of the Healthcare Trustees of New York State (HTNYS) Board of Governors, visited with key state legislators today, urging them to use the federal Medicaid stimulus funding to offset the Governor’s proposed health care cuts and taxes.

The group discussed the financial impact that the cuts would have on their organizations and communities, stressing that their health care organizations could not sustain the cuts and taxes without making service cutbacks or staff reductions.

HTNYS Chairman Richard Hawks, Jr., of Thompson Health in Canandaigua, presented each lawmaker with a package of more than 100 resolutions that hospital and health care system boards across the state approved in support of using federal Medicaid stimulus funding to eliminate health care cuts and taxes. He also presented a letter signed by each member of the HTNYS Board reinforcing this same message.

HTNYS appreciates the grassroots advocacy efforts of its member trustees and of the HTNYS Board and urges continued advocacy efforts over the coming weeks. Contact: Sue Ellen Wagner
