2011 Annual Trustee Conference

Governance and health care experts are increasingly noting that health care boards are entering a new era of heightened accountability, scrutiny and reform. This is due to a number of factors, including Sarbanes-Oxley legislation, IRS scrutiny, and increased media attention. In addition, health care organizations are among the most complex organizations today. It is critical that trustees have a minimum level of knowledge and skills to provide effective governance.

What is CETT?

The Center of Excellence for Trustee Training (CETT) offers cutting-edge education for trustees to support them in meeting their fiduciary responsibilities and effectively leading their organizations. CETT offers trustees a variety of training venues to meet their needs, including in-person education, as well as portable education that is delivered to hospital board members at their desks, at their facilities, or within their regions.

The Center's curriculum provides trustees with education in a wide range of important areas. It is designed to supplement or expand upon the organization's own orientation or board development process.

How Does it Work?

New and experienced health care trustees can choose from among a variety of educational offerings. HTNYS provides individual trustees with a certificate of attendance following each program. In addition, a year-end summary certificate is mailed to chief executive officers recognizing all of the HTNYS educational programs completed that year by the facility's trustees.
